Why Sealtite is better than caulk?

All gunnable sealants and caulks depend on three material properties to work: adhesion, cohesion, and impermeability to water. Sealtite is designed to address the failure of caulked joints. Sealtite acts under compression at all times, thereby eliminating all factors associated with tensile stresses. Sealtite has no adhesive "glue line". Instead, it seals the joint wall interface with a high density foam acting under constant pressure and a waterproof, hydrophobic acrylic polymer. This composition provides for long life and resiliency allowing up to 100% movement with zero adhesive and cohesive stresses. When Sealtite is in a 4:1 ratio it is impermeable to water.

    When Should Sealtite Be Specifed?

Sealtite should be specified as a primary sealant when joint width exceeds 3/4" or when extreme movement is anticipated. Sealtite B should be specified as a secondary sealant behind a gunnable sealant in any application requiring a fail-safe sealing system. By design, Sealtite has higher movement capabilities than most sealants and will not shrink, which makes it a superior sealant when excessive movement is expected. Very few gunnable sealants can match Sealtite's 100% movement recovery making it an ideal choice for joints subject to repeated expansion and contraction cycles. Sealtite should be specified when immediate sealing is required as most sealants require 27 to 72 hours for a tack-free surface.
