Color Econoseal
is a dense, closed cell foam typically used for
larger movement joints. It has a colorized silicone kin on the exposed
face which provides a chemically resistant, puncture resistant and waterproof
joint. Due to its strong closed cell structure, it has excellent
compression, tension and shear capabilities. It is installed with a
lubricating sealant that facilitates installation and when cured, permanently
bonds the Color Econoseal in place. View the
Dow 790 color chart for available colors.

|
Basic Use:
Color Econoseal has been specifically designed to perform under extreme
conditions such as those found in vertical and horizontal
applications including Seismic and parking structure type expansion
joints. The material is impermeable to water and when bonded in
place provides a watertight seal.
|
|
|
Typical Applications
- Control joints
- Below grade applications
- Highway longitudinal and transverse joints
- Horizontal joints
- Parking structure expansion joints
- Bridge expansion joints (with traffic grade silicone)
- Seismic joints
- Large joints
- Retrofit joints
|
|
Advantages
- Can accommodate rapid rates of joint movement
- One size material can function in a wider variety of joint openings
- Same performance as more expensive systems
- Consistent depth of product
- Not subject to adhesive or cohesive failure
- Greater ease of installation, no tooling required
- Movement capability ± 25%
- Can be permanently bonded to the joint substrate
- No waiting for expansion or curing
- Made from a monolithic piece of foam; will not delaminate like multi-layer products
- Color Econoseal Expansion Joint System provides an impenetrable seal against extreme weather, moisture, vapor, air, sound, and dust
|
|
Limitations
- Joints must be sized by measuring every 5-7 ft. (1.524 - 2.137 meters)
to ensure gap opening is uniform and depth is sufficient for the supplied material.
- Do not install when substrate or ambient temperatures are below
-14°F (-25°C) or above 95°F (35°C) without special procedures from Schul International Co., LLC
- Store material at a minimum of 68°F (20°C) for a minimum of 24 hours prior to installation,
regardless of temperature at location of installation.
- Store materials in dry, enclosed area, off the ground, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not install when raining or snowing.
- Do not unwrap material until ready for installation into joint as packaging maintains material compression.
- Do not use scrap materials
|
|
Not Intended for Joints:
- In contact with harsh chemicals
- In roofing applications
- Joints requiring pick resistance
