Sealtite B, Type II
is used behind the backer rod and serves
as a dual sealant system when used with a high quality urethane or a silicone
joint sealant. Sealtite B, Type II forms a watertight, dust-proof,
airtight, soundproof urethane insulated seal. The exposed surface is an
independent sealant such as a silicone, urethane, and polysulfide.

Basic Use:
Sealtite B, Type II is composed of a high quality, elastic,
closed-cell, polyurethane foam with excellent movement capabilities.
Sealtite B, Type II is installed in place of, or behind, ordinary backer
rod but performs as a super sealant independent of the surface caulking.
Joints using Sealtite B, Type II look like ordinary caulked joints but are superior in
watertight performance.

Typical Applications
- Vertical and horizontal movement - Expansion, control, and isolation joints
- Large joints subject to sealant failure
- Masonry applications requiring a low pressure, resilient seal
- Sealing hard to reach and concealed areas/voids
- Pre-cast concrete walls - tilt-up walls
- Exterior panel systems - masonry, granite, metal, EIFS, and curtain walls
- Joints that are difficult or impossible to repair after installation
- Roofing and flashing details requiring flexibility
- Other joints requiring dual, independent sealant
|
|
Advantages
- Provides a dual and economical sealant that works independently of the primary sealant
- Allows for up to 50% total movement
- Provides for a waterproof joint even if the caulk fails
- Excellent compression recovery
- Conforms to varying joint contours and sizes
- Ideal for sealing hard to reach joints and sealing concealed voids
- Ease of "take off" and ordering (same material for various size joints)
- Ease and speed of installation
